Who is the GBVIMS Global Team?

The GBVIMS Global Team, made up of UNFPA, IRC and UNHCR was established in 2007 in response to the need of the humanitarian community collecting GBV data to have a standardized information management system.  Today, the GBVIMS is an inter-agency initiative governed by a Steering Committee made up of representatives from UNHCR, UNFPA, IRC, UNICEF, and WHO.

Organizations wanting to implement the GBVIMS need to participate in an orientation, complete a brief questionnare, and consult with the GBVIMS Steering Committee in order to gain full access to all GBVIMS tools.  This process will help ensure that the GBVIMS is being rolled-out in appropriate contexts and will make sure that all agencies implementing the GBVIMS have the most current tools and access to guidance on implementation of the system.

Introduction of the New GBVIMS Surge Team

The GBVIMS Surge Team consists of two consultants, Anne Kluyskens and Sunita Palekar, hired by UNICEF on behalf of the GBVIMS Steering Committee and with funds from UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict (UN Action). Anne and Sunita are inter-agency representatives of the GBVIMS Steering Committee and will work closely with the existing GBVIMS team comprised of UNFPA, IRC, UNHCR, UNICEF and WHO. The GBVIMS Surge Team will provide in-country assistance through hands-on support to new roll-out sites and to agencies currently using the GBVIMS as well as remote support by acting as focal points to trouble shoot implementation issues.
